Chief Executive Officer
Taylor Rhodes, Chief Executive Officer, leads Team Applied and is responsible for the company's overall strategy and operational execution. Rhodes joined Applied in 2019 after serving as chief executive officer of SMS Assist, the leading cloud-based software platform for multi-site property management. Previously, he was CEO of Rackspace, where he led the Company’s growth from a cloud pioneer to an industry leader with more than two billion dollars in revenue, while establishing the company as a mainstay on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For®. Prior to Rackspace, he served as a leader in enterprise, financial and corporate strategy roles at Electronic Data Systems Corporation. Mr. Rhodes is a former United States Marine Corps infantry officer and holds a MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves on the board of directors for Applied, Zenoss and Liquid Web, LLC.
Chief Financial Officer
Ryan Hobbs, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for financial and administrative functions, as well as acquisitions, partnerships and strategic planning activities at Applied. Hobbs joined Applied in 2011 and previously held the role of Executive Vice President of Corporate Development. Prior to Applied, he led efforts related to strategic planning, acquisitions, divestitures and other key corporate initiatives at Intergraph Corporation, a global company that develops geospatial and engineering software. Hobbs also previously held management positions at Witness Systems, a provider of software for customer relationship management, and began his career in investment banking focused on the technology sector, working at J.P. Morgan and Raymond James. Hobbs holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Engineering Science from Vanderbilt University and a master's in Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Chief Marketing Officer
Ian Hoffman, Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for branding, marketing and communications strategy for Applied. A software industry veteran, Hoffman brought more than two decades of results-oriented, international marketing experience when he arrived at Applied in 2011. He developed his expertise in strategic planning, brand development and integrated marketing and communications functions at global software companies including Intergraph Corporation, an organization at the forefront of geospatial and computer-aided design software. As senior vice president of Marketing, Hoffman was part of the Intergraph management team responsible for transforming the company’s global operation in more than 50 countries worldwide. Prior to Intergraph, Hoffman was vice president of Global Marketing at Solution 6 Holdings, the largest software company in Australia; and vice president of Marketing at Novient, a major provider of software for professional services automation. Hoffman holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University.
Executive Vice President of Customer Experience
Kristin Hackney, Executive Vice President of Customer Experience, is responsible for Applied’s customer delivery strategy and operational execution for the Company’s Professional Services, Support and Cloud-based solutions. She is the former vice president of Worldwide Enterprise Solutions & Services for Chicago-based SPSS Inc., a leading global provider of predictive analytics software and solutions, now part of IBM. Hackney drove the strategic transformation of SPSS from a tools/technology-focused vendor to a respected provider of enterprise solutions, building and leading the company’s global predictive analytics solutions business. In a previous role at SPSS, Hackney served as vice president of Worldwide Education Services. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn.
James R. White
Executive Vice President of Sales
James R. White, Executive Vice President of Sales, brought more than 20 years' experience in enterprise software sales and service to Applied when he joined the company in September 2007. White has held senior management positions with enterprise software companies including Pilot Software (currently SAP), Portal Software (currently Oracle), and ManageSoft Corporation. During his first year, White built a Corporate Account Management and Strategic Service Team responsible for enhancing customer relationships and expanding Applied Systems solutions to the corporate user community.
Senior Vice President of Product Management
Michael Howe, Senior Vice President of Product Management, is responsible for the strategic direction of the Applied product portfolio. Howe joined Applied in 2013 with more than 20 years of experience in enterprise software. He formerly served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Aptean, a global provider of industry-focused enterprise software. Prior to Aptean, Howe held senior executive management positions at SAP and other leading software companies. Howe began his career as a software engineer at Great-West Life Assurance, where he was responsible for developing custom-built Oracle applications. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Senior Vice President of Corporate Development
Jon Ingram, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, is responsible for acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic planning activities at Applied. Ingram joined Applied in 2014 and brings 20 years of experience in strategy in software and other industries. Prior to Applied, Ingram was an Associate Partner with McKinsey & Company in its Sales & Marketing practice where he was a leader in the firm’s pricing practice. He also previously held management positions with Georgia Pacific and Radiant Systems, as well as served as a consultant with A.T. Kearney and a CPA with Arthur Andersen. Ingram holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration and a master’s of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master’s of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Jeffrey D. Purdy
Senior Vice President of International Operations
Jeffrey D. Purdy, Senior Vice President of International Operations, is responsible for Applied's Canadian and UK operations. Purdy began his Applied career in the company's Canada operations in 1989. In 1993, he was named president of Applied Systems Canada, assuming responsibility for Canada product development, sales, implementation and customer support. In 2002, Purdy relocated to Applied's U.S. headquarters as vice president of Diamond Implementation and Account Services, departments within the carrier division then operated by the company. Since 2004 Purdy has been in charge of primary sales and in June of 2012, Purdy returned to the Canadian marketplace as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Applied Systems Canada.
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Paul Ramsey, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, is responsible for all human resources functions across the company as well as overseeing the development and execution of human capital strategies. Key areas of accountability include compensation and benefits administration, leadership and employee development, talent recruitment and retention, and employee engagement. With more than 30 years of human resources experience in software and other industries for major global brands, Ramsey is an accomplished human resources executive with deep experience across all HR disciplines. Prior to joining Applied Systems, Ramsey built and led the human resources function for CDK Global (formerly ADP Dealer Services), a 9,000 person B2B automotive software company. He has also held senior human resources positions with PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, Viskase and other global companies. Ramsey holds a master’s in Labor & Employment Relations from the University of Illinois, and a bachelor’s in Political Science from Colorado College.
Senior Vice President of Cloud Services
Tim Sander, Senior Vice President of Cloud Services, heads global IT operations for Applied’s Cloud Hosting and corporate IT services. He began his Applied career in 1987 as a systems technician and has held numerous technical leadership roles, helping Applied to evaluate and transition to new technologies. Today Sander is responsible for the company’s corporate IT services and oversees the operations of Applied’s four global data centers.
Senior Vice President of Support
Gregory Shiple, AIS, Senior Vice President of Support, heads the Applied division servicing clients' technical support needs, support operations, and client retention in the United States, Canada and the UK. Shiple began his Applied career as a programmer in 1986 and was responsible for developing a variety of leading Applied solutions. He helped develop and promote agency-carrier communication through various technologies and insurance industry standards. Shiple holds a bachelor’s degree in Math and Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago, along with an associate degree in Insurance Services (AIS) from Insurance Institute of America.
David H. Whitley
Senior Vice President of Development
David H. Whitley, Senior Vice President of Development, leads the Product Development and Quality Assurance teams for Applied Systems. Whitley previously was responsible for global product development activities for the Security, Government and Infrastructure division at Intergraph Corporation, providing mission-critical software for various industries including public safety, defense, intelligence, utilities, transportation and communications. Prior to Intergraph, Whitley was vice president of engineering at Solution 6 Holdings, the largest software company in Australia. He began his career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), where he worked in the technology competency center, delivering custom application solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Whitley holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University.
Vice President and General Manager of IVANS Insurance Solutions
Thad Bauer, Vice President and General Manager of IVANS Insurance Solutions, a division of Applied Systems, has 25 years of property and casualty experience and has played a key role in furthering the adoption of ACORD standards to exchange data within the industry to improve efficiencies. He has helped carriers and MGAs realize benefits through innovative technology and workflow implementations of real time, download, Web service connections to third parties and maximizing data within their enterprise. Prior to his current role at IVANS, Thad was president and co-founder of NxTech, a leading provider of agency-MGA-carrier interface and data integration solutions. Prior to NxTech, he spent nine years with BWC Systems and IVANS, Inc. and has worked with more than 350 insurance carriers throughout North America.
